“Turnkey gives our AI agents the wallets and signing infrastructure they need to move from discovering services to paying for them.” — Ankit Bhatia, Founder of Abstraxn
About
Abstraxn is a Web3 infrastructure platform that turns AI agents into economic actors, giving them the wallets, onchain identity, and payment rails to transact on their own. Its infrastructure supports 100+ B2B integrations and more than $5B in transaction volume across its ecosystem.
Challenge
Streamlining onchain actions across users and agents
Abstraxn launched in 2023 to eliminate the most notoriously friction-heavy touchpoints in crypto. Its team built ERC-4337 infrastructure in-house, including paymasters and bundlers, to enable dApps to cover gas fees and process transactions for users without token micromanagement or chain-level complexity.
As this user-first approach quickly drew attention from platforms focused on DeFi and real-world asset tokenization, Abstraxn shifted its focus from transaction execution to onboarding. Its team wanted to give users seamless access to familiar login and authentication methods so they’d never have to manage a private key to transact onchain.
Abstraxn’s ambitions went far beyond eliminating user friction. With autonomous onchain activity growing, the team was also building an infrastructure stack that would let AI agents discover services, hold their own wallets, and execute onchain actions within limits their owners set. Both efforts pointed to the same need: secure, scalable wallet infrastructure that could serve humans and agents alike.
While the team’s first instinct was to build this infrastructure in-house, it would require standing up trusted execution environments and navigating repeated security audits. With established players already in the market, Abstraxn couldn’t afford to divert significant time and engineering resources toward an in-house build. Its team sought a partner with proven, secure wallet infrastructure that was flexible enough to support both its SDKs and agents.
That search ultimately led them to Turnkey.
“Running trusted execution environments in-house is a huge infrastructure burden. We’d rather spend our engineering time on the agent stack than rebuild what Turnkey already does well.”
Solution
Combining embedded and server-side wallets with flexible signing infrastructure
Abstraxn chose Turnkey for its TEE-based security, robust policies, secure signing, and flexible wallet infrastructure built for both humans and agents.
Integration was straightforward and collaborative. Before the contract was signed, the Turnkey team was already working through architecture decisions with Abstraxn’s engineers across multiple technical calls. Once the build began, the team stayed involved, and Abstraxn still brings them in whenever a technical question comes up.
“It was impressive how supportive Turnkey was before we even signed a contract,” shares Ankit Bhatia, Founder of Abstraxn. “They were always coming on calls and guiding us on how to architect our solution.”
Abstraxn built its own SDKs on Turnkey’s APIs, implementing embedded wallets with social login, email login, and passkey authentication for its B2B customers. Private keys stay in Turnkey’s secure enclaves, Turnkey policies are applied at the organization level, and Abstraxn’s in-house paymaster handles gas sponsorship.
On the agent side, Turnkey serves as the signing layer beneath Abstraxn’s own stack. Each agent is onboarded and provisioned with an Abstraxn server wallet backed by Turnkey. The agent is registered with an onchain identity under ERC-8004. It discovers services through Abstraxn’s marketplace and pays for them via x402, the HTTP 402-based payment protocol, or Machine Payments Protocol (MPP).
Settlement runs through Abstraxn’s own layer. The agent initiates transactions programmatically, but its private key stays inside Turnkey’s secure enclaves.
Every agent transaction is evaluated against policy before a signature is produced, not after broadcast. Address whitelisting restricts an agent to counterparties its owner has approved, such as the service providers it’s expected to pay.
Address blacklisting blocks disallowed destinations, even if the agent is instructed to send funds there. Per-transaction limits cap the value of any single payment, bounding the worst-case loss from one bad decision and fitting the micropayment pattern that most agent activity follows today.
A transaction that fails any of these checks is never signed. Because onchain transactions are irreversible, this stops a violation before funds can move rather than flagging it afterward.
Together, these controls enable Abstraxn to give agents effective payment authority while keeping each transaction bound by owner-defined policy.
“It’s difficult to trust an agent to handle payments on your behalf. But since Turnkey’s policies are enforced inside the enclave and the agent itself can’t override them, that trust comes a lot easier.”
Results
Secure signing, trusted autonomy, and a foundation built for the agent economy
With Turnkey, Abstraxn gives its AI agents a controlled path from service discovery to payment while keeping its own agent kit, discovery marketplace, and settlement layer at the center of the experience.

Looking ahead, the team plans to integrate Turnkey’s cross-chain Swaps, while adding support for emerging standards like India’s Unified Agent Protocol. This will ensure agents have access to every payment rail they need, with guardrails that hold no matter where they transact.
“What’s great about Turnkey is they keep adding new functionalities, like fetching token balances and Swaps. We plan to leverage those as we continue to build.”
