About

Veera is an onchain neobank that enables users to safely store, grow, and transact with digital assets without sacrificing usability or control. Since its founding in 2022, Veera has raised over $10M across pre-seed and seed rounds led by 6th Man Ventures, Ayon Capital, CMCC Titan Fund, and Sigma Capital.

Challenge

Driving day-one adoption with user-friendly onboarding flows

Veera’s origins as a mobile-first web3 browser gave its team firsthand insight into one of the industry’s most pressing challenges: onboarding new users.

Between downloading external wallet apps, jotting down 24-word seed phrases, and managing private keys, the sheer amount of roadblocks to adoption can quickly tank any aspiring crypto venture. As such, following the company’s pivot to a crypto-native neobank, streamlining onboarding flows became a strategic imperative.

Sam Noble, Chief Technology Officer at Veera, was tasked with spearheading this effort. At the time, Veera didn’t have the wallet infrastructure to support embedded wallets, and aspiring users had to onboard via an external provider such as MetaMask or Trust Wallet.

To eliminate this fragmented and friction-heavy step, Veera would have to manage wallet creation, key storage, and recovery flows directly. But, building and maintaining that infrastructure in-house would introduce significant cryptographic and operational complexity while diverting critical bandwidth from product iteration and user support.

Knowing he couldn’t simply throw headcount at this challenge, Sam sought an established wallet provider that would deliver the underlying infrastructure needed to power Veera’s end-to-end user flows. His ideal provider would:

  • Effortlessly provision millions of secure, non-custodial wallets
  • Offer complete ownership over onboarding UI/UX
  • Integrate seamlessly into an Android-native application

After evaluating a wide range of providers, Veera’s SVP of Engineering, Akshay Khare, recommended Turnkey. The wallet provider’s focus on flexible, low-level primitives, seamless onboarding, and familiar recovery flows cemented Sam’s conviction in moving forward.

“When you’re looking to build a highly intuitive user experience across a UX-heavy product, the last thing you want to worry about is friction-heavy onboarding flows. Turnkey helped us remove that critical roadblock.” — Akshay Khare, SVP of Engineering at Veera

Solution

Abstracting the complexities of crypto with Turnkey

Turnkey provided Veera with the essential building blocks for non-custodial wallet creation, seamless transaction signing, and frictionless recovery, ensuring immediate and lasting adoption of its neobank offering.

Thanks to Turnkey’s flexible API, Veera’s engineering team was able to embed wallet functionality directly into their Android app without restructuring existing product flows. Through a dedicated Slack channel, the teams collaborated on API integration, signing flows, and recovery logic — reviewing request schemas, debugging edge cases, and validating behavior across Android and backend services.

“Right off the bat, the integration process was incredibly smooth,” Akshay shares. “Both Sam and I are very hands-on coders, and being able to work with people who know their systems rather than relying on documentation was a breath of fresh air.”

Following integration, Turnkey became the foundational wallet infrastructure that powers end-to-end user flows across the Veera app.

Rather than requiring users to onboard via an external wallet provider, Veera now supports seamless embedded wallets that can be created through familiar methods like email or social login. This capability eliminates the traditionally fragmented, friction-heavy onboarding process, driving adoption among even the most non-crypto-savvy users. And with Turnkey’s email-based recovery flows, users can regain access to lost funds in minutes, rather than scrambling to locate their seed phrase.

This intuitiveness extends well beyond onboarding and recovery flows. Because each Turnkey wallet supports biometrics for instant signing and sessions to eliminate signing fatigue, users aren’t required to navigate multiple pop-ups just to execute trades. And with sub-100ms signing latency as standard, every onchain action feels instant to end users.

For Sam and Akshay, retaining control over UI/UX was the greatest value-add. Unlike many wallet providers who force rigid, unfamiliar interfaces on end users, Turnkey delivers backend primitives without requiring a pre-built frontend design. This enables Veera's team to build fully native, in-app experiences that solidify trust.

For a startup pivoting to an entirely new offering, that flexibility proved invaluable.

“Since launch, we’ve seen over 5 million app installs and hundreds of thousands of activated wallets. Those are incredible levels of adoption, and it’s all powered by Turnkey.” — Sam Noble, Chief Technology Officer at Veera

Results

Effortless user flows, accelerated adoption, and months of development time saved

Today, Turnkey underpins Veera’s wallet infrastructure with seamless onboarding and transaction flows that have already driven millions of app installs. These flows continue to operate consistently at higher volumes, without introducing additional complexity or shifting responsibility for key operations back to Veera’s teams.

  • 300K+ user wallets created
  • 5M+ app installs since launch
  • 8 months of development time saved

Looking ahead, Sam is confident Turnkey will continue to play a pivotal role as Veera deepens its neobank offerings and adds more functionality to its broader web presence.

“Turnkey wasn’t a one-off integration for us. It’s fundamental to how we scale our user experience without reworking core architecture.” — Akshay Khare, SVP of Engineering at Veera
